We conducted presence/absence surveys for the elusive Eastern black rail (EBLRA) in the greater Houston region. We follow the required USFWS call-response survey protocols for these endangered birds. This last survey identified a very vocal group - all chattering with their distinctive kic-kic-kerr calls!
